Target, Minneapolis, Minn., will soon begin using radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to ensure its shoppers have consistency when purchasing the store’s wares.

The company says that once completed in 2016, the rollout will be one of the largest implementations of RFID at retail. The tags will improve in-store inventory, and the company expects RFID to help with online orders as well.

“As more and more of our guests shop us online, they expect a great, seamless experience between digital and stores,” says Keri Jones, EVP of global supply chain operations, Target. “And adopting technology like RFID is one big step Target is taking to make sure we deliver.”
