Playmobil, Zirndorf, Germany, has announced a partnership with the National Hockey League (NHL) to create a line of NHL-inspired toys. This is the first time Playmobil has struck a deal for a United States and Canadian line of licensed products.

“Fans of the NHL are amongst the most involved and fervent fans of any sport, and that extends to little ones as well,” says Richard Brookes, director of sales and marketing, Playmobil Canada. “We’re excited to be able to give kids and parents everywhere a lineup of great looking, true-to-form NHL figures, allowing them to take their love of their teams from the rink to the playroom.”

The first NHL play sets are due in October for the beginning of the 2015-2016 NHL season and will focus on the Original Six franchises: Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs.

More teams will be added at a later date and sets will come with player and goalie figures for the teams.
