U.K.-based retailer Sports Direct and New York-based Modell’s Sporting Goods are in talks for a potential deal to buy as many as 200 Sports Authority stores, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Sports Authority filed for Chapter 11 protection in early March, igniting a scramble to close stores and find a buyer. Bids for the retailer’s store leases are due Thursday, according to a Reuters report.
