The National Basketball Association (NBA), New York, and Canal+ Afrique, Johannesburg, South Africa, announced a partnership on Jan. 21 that will result in being broadcast in French in 19 African countries.
“Thanks to this new partnership with the NBA, Canal+ subscribers in Africa will be able to follow the NBA in French”, says François Deplanck, senior vice president of channels and content of Canal+ overseas.
Canal+ Afrique will now broadcast two live or delayed games each week, along with the first and second rounds of the NBA Playoffs.
“As one of the leading sports broadcasters in Francophone Africa, we look forward to working with Canal+ Afrique to bring live NBA games in French to the region,” says Amadou Gallo Fall, vice president and managing director of NBA Africa. “Thanks to this partnership, our French-speaking fans will now have a courtside seat to watch their favorite players and teams throughout the season.”
