Zinédine Zidane, one of France’s most celebrated soccer players, revealed the Beau Jeu, the official match ball of the UEFA Euro 2016 group stages, via his Instagram page.
The UEFA EURO 2016 is a major international tournament that features the best national teams from Europe every four years. Winning the tournament is considered to be one of the top accomplishments in soccer.
The Beau Jeu, which means “the beautiful game” in English, is made by adidas and is closely tied to the host country, France. The ball incorporates France’s national colors and includes a reference to the sought-after UEFA EURO trophy.
Several European players have tested the ball, including Welsh forward Gareth Bale.
“I already tested Beau Jeu in training with long shots, passes and running at pace,” he says. “It performed brilliantly. I can’t wait for the tournament to start.”
