Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Bentonville, Ark., has named Tony Rogers as its United States chief marketing officer to oversee messaging for the mega-retailer.
Rogers takes over for Stephen Quinn, who held the role of U.S. chief marketing officer since 2007. Rogers’ most recent role in his 10-year Wal-Mart career was as marketing chief for operations in China.
In early December, The Wall Street Journal reported that Wal-Mart hired Michael Francis, a former Target. Corp. employee, as a marketing consultant.
Wal-Mart CEO Doug McMillon has made several executive changes in recent months in order to focus the company on long-term goals such as boosting e-commerce sales and making stores more efficient.
