STATS LLC, Northbrook, Ill., has purchased TVT Video Technologies, a small Oregon-based firm that many Major League Baseball and National Hockey League teams use to help analyze game film.
TVT helps teams index clips of game action so they can analyze their own players or opponents. The acquisition should help STATS provide a more convenient, complete data and analytics package to professional teams and leagues.
“Historically, the problem has been that teams have had to get an analytics package from someone, a scouting solution from somebody else and a video solution from a third party. And the systems don’t correlate well with each other,” says Bill Squadron, executive vice president of global strategy, STATS. “We want to be able to offer a complete suite of services so clubs can have it fully integrated.”
The move comes about a week after STATS purchased Prozone, another sports analytics software company.
