One Entertainment, a soccer licensing agency, has been appointed by WeMatch to develop the licensing program for the 2016 Copa America soccer tournament in the United States and Canada.
Under the terms of the agreement, One Entertainment will control a program to leverage the tournament in apparel, accessory, toy and gift categories.
“Copa America 2016 will allow licensees and retail partners to tap into the three dimensions of the tournament: a mega sports event for all Americans and host cities; an exciting competition for all soccer fans in the U.S.; and a celebration for the entire U.S. Hispanic community,” says David Gebel, a partner with One Entertainment.
The Copa America will celebrate its 100th birthday with the 2016 edition on the tournament, which will be held June 3-26. It will include 16 national teams from North, South, and Central America, and the Caribbean competing for the title, while 24 major metropolitan areas will bid to become host cities.
