Nike, Beaverton, Ore., has dropped Manny Pacquiao after the boxer’s derogatory comments about homosexual relationships.
“We find Manny Pacquiao’s comments abhorrent,” Nike said in a recent statement. “Nike strongly opposes discrimination of any kind and has a long history of supporting and standing up for the rights of the LGBT community.”
Pacquiao made the comments on a television interview that ran earlier this week in his native Philippines, where he is currently an active member of the House of Representatives and is running for a Senate seat.
Pacquiao posted an apology on Facebook not long after he received large amounts of international backlash. — J.B.
