NFL Players Inc. (NFLPI), the marketing and licensing arm of the NFL Players Association, and Stylinity, a social commerce platform that has made “selfies” shoppable, recently announced a licensing agreement that will allow NFL players to share their fashion styles on social media and enable fans to purchase their favorite looks by clicking on products in the photos.
The partnership means NFL players can share their style with their social media followers. Fans who like what their favorite player is wearing can simply click on the “I Want It” button in the “Shoppable Selfie,” and the product will be added to their e-commerce shopping cart on the participating brand’s website.
This Stylinity technology transforms the online fashion marketplace into a social shopping experience, providing an easy way for retail brands to connect with players, develop relationships with consumers and track sales driven by players’ shared images. NFLPI is the first partner within Stylinity’s celebrity division.
“We’re always seeking new and different ways for players to expand their marketability and connect with their fans,” says Steve Scebelo, NFLPI vice president, licensing and business development. “Teaming up with an emerging company like Stylinity allows players to stay on the cutting edge of new and innovative technology while leveraging our ability to strengthen personal brands.”
“Social commerce is poised to grow exponentially,” says Tadd Sperling, CEO of Stylinity. “Now, style-conscious NFL players will help drive that growth by sharing their favorite styles and inspiring their fans on social media via Shoppable Selfies that will deliver revenue for brand partners. And the brands will have unparalleled data, with the ability to see which picture drove which sale.”
