The NBA, New York, is hosting NBA Green Week presented by Sprint from March 22-29.
The league, its players and teams will encourage fans to focus on reducing, reusing and recycling, and to be environmentally responsible. Throughout the week, the NBA will work with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant a tree (up to 25,000) each time #NBAGreen is posted on social media sites.
The NBA and Sprint also will collaborate with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation to purchase enough renewable energy certificates to power all 64 league games during the week with renewable energy.
Also throughout the week, Sprint will work with former NBA players to host phone-recycling events in Boston and Los Angeles as part of the Sprint Buyback program. The initiative offers account credits to new or existing customers who recycle their unwanted wireless devices.
