Chelsea, a London-based English Premier League (EPL) soccer club, has reportedly agreed to an estimated $87 million-a-year deal with sports apparel giant Nike, Beaverton, Ore., according to The Telegraph.
The news comes after Chelsea prematurely ended its contract with adidas in a deal that was worth about half as much money; Chelsea had to pay adidas a substantial amount of money to opt out of the agreement.
Manchester United has the most lucrative apparel deal in Europe, earning a reported $108 million yearly with adidas, but Chelsea now has the second-largest deal.
Other terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
