Wasserman Media Group, Los Angeles, which represents high-profile athletes and clients such as Pepsi, Nationwide and American Express, has acquired digital shop Laundry Service to bolster its marketing services, according to AdAge.com.
With the acquisition, Wasserman gains access to Cycle, Laundry Service’s network of more than 1,000 social media influencers.
“We see social media’s magnitude and obvious influence in sports and entertainment, and Laundry Service is the right team to augment our client commitment in this area,” says Casey Wasserman, CEO of Wasserman Media Group, in a statement. “Together, we can scale our business opportunities on a more significant global level.”
The deal may help Wasserman’s athletes — a roster that includes more than 500 players in the Premier League, La Liga, Seria A and Major League Soccer — build engagements through social media; as for Laundry Service, the acquisition provides improved access to more influential athletes.
