Augusta National Excluded from PGA Tour Video Game

Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, a video game developed by EA Sports, Burnaby, British Columbia, will not feature Augusta National golf course because the game’s license with the course has expired, according to an EA Sports Twitter announcement.

The news comes just days before Augusta National hosts the Masters – the first of the PGA Tour’s four major championships in 2015. However, EA Sports also added that it will “continue to explore opportunities to include [Augusta National].”

For Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, there is the possibility that the potential exclusion of one of the most popular courses among golf fans could hurt the game’s sales. It launches in June for XboxOne and PlayStation 4, and represents the first new PGA Tour game for consoles since 2013.
