James Harden, a three-time All-Star of the Houston Rockets signed a shoe deal worth $200 million over 13 years with adidas, according to USA Today.
The current deal will include Harden traveling on brand tours in Europe and Asia, and off-court signature footwear and apparel collections.
“We have a lot of energy in basketball right now and James takes that momentum to a whole new level,” says Chris Granico, adidas global basketball general manager, in a statement. “James isn’t like anyone else. He approaches the game with a unique mentality and strives to go against convention. When he signed with the Rockets he moved from being the sixth man to the lead man, proving his willingness to establish himself as a resounding superstar.”
adidas recently gave Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard a deal worth more than $100 million and currently has deals with other NBA stars, such as John Wall of the Washington Wizards, Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls and Andrew Wiggins of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Harden previously was with Nike, who decided not to match the adidas offer.
