GoPro, San Mateo, Calif., an action camera manufacturer that is popular among team and extreme sports enthusiasts, has added Bill McCullough, formerly of HBO Sports, as a programming executive, according to Variety.
McCullough will officially be the executive producer for GoPro’s extreme and team sports videos. Many GoPro videos are shot in first person, with the camera strapped to the participant.
McCullough told Variety that GoPro makes it possible to capture stories that are not possible to shoot with traditional TV cameras.
“The camera itself really breaks down so many barriers,” he says.
A winner of 11 Emmy Awards, McCullough says he hopes to bring awards to GoPro as well.
