Academy Sports + Outdoors (Academy), Katy, Texas, has named James Kevin “J.K.” Symancyk as president and CEO of the company, effective Nov. 2.
Symancyk most recently served as president of Meijer Inc., in which he oversaw a phase that resulted in nearly three years of positive comp growth and new market expansion. He also has held leadership roles at Sam’s Club.
Symancyk succeeds Rodney Faldyn, who increased the store count by 50%, and launched an e-commerce platform.
